In another world where Hell's Highway was a bigger hit and Gearbox got to make a 4th set during the Battle of the Bulge that would have been really cool I think (especially if they added in maybe like some light survival elements in about surviving the cold, and ammo scarcity would put greater emphasis on tactics). I totally don't trust Gearbox to make a good Brother's in Arms again (also with the failure of BattleBorn I don't see them having the budget to make it for a long time even if they wanted to). Not to mention they got rid of the cool co-op missions (which in Earned in Blood were also really fun to play solo) and replaced the really cool 2v2 with AI squads multiplayer with a boring generic multiplayer that was dead immediately. Instead of adding in cooler more open levels and more ways to interact with your AI, they seemed to have spent a lot of budget adding in really boring solo missions, a poorly implemented 3rd person cover mechanic, and a dumb flow-breaking slo-mo camera to show headshots and explosions (like in Fallout) as if no one had ever seen a game with ragdoll physics before. I never even finished it because it controlled bad with a mouse/keyboard and some of the levels were just boring (also I had a weird save bug where the game wouldn't ever save when I exited the game so I had to use cheat codes to skip back to whatever level I was on). I remember Gearbox delayed the 3rd game a ton and put out a ton of fake trailers for it.

Earned in Blood had a couple levels that were a bit more open than the first which were really cool and really gave you room to maneuver and strategize (some levels in the series were pretty linear and you basically just had 1 or 2 places to tell to your squads to go to). They were to me such a great mixture of good gunplay (at least at the time) and fun tactics. I haven't played every single squad-based shooter that has ever come out, but they are definitely my favorites. Unfortunately the third one went back on just about all of this, the market moved away from WW2, and Borderlands started a whole ass genre of random loot rpg shooters, so I think the series is on indefinite hiatus, but I wish more shooters would take some inspiration from these games. The Co-Op introduced in Earned in Blood was very good too.

Some maps let you control two squads! Sometimes the AI was dumb as hell or stood on the wrong side of cover, wrecking your brilliant strategies, but it was fun as hell regardless.

I used to crank my TV and play no HUD, all the yelling and the gunshots packed serious punch. Speaking of immersion, the sound was amazing in this game. That's kind of a standard trope in video games/movies, but that was the first time I'd seen it, and seen it done so seamlessly.

I still remember what I thought was some regular pre mission bullshit being interrupted by a surprise headshot and things going nuts from there. First person everything, including cut scenes. Squad AI wasn't.great, but I give it a pass for the time Easy and intuitive squad control mechanic that allowed for on the fly tactics. I feel like they're under appreciated though, as they did quite a few things really well. Um your the one that sounds like a 12 year old Earned in Blood was the greatest ww2 game ever and had the best multiplayer as well I was on the top 5 on shattered wings and the crossroads, EIB is easily my most favorite game of all time and I would be willing to put $30,000 of my own money to get the servers back up, so gabe if you are out there, i have 30k with your name on it if you fix this. The first two, and only the first two, are on my top ten list. No offense dude but you sound like a 12 year old, and I don't really think Valve would take interest in this game or it's community which is a very small minority sadly, I bet the developers have long forgotten about this game as well. they do have the servers and it wouldnt be the first time. lets see if we can get valve fix it for us. its possible for everyone to play the game on gameranger or evolve or whatever but most people wont bother with that.
